Can I return my order?

Oh no, I’m so sorry you’re not happy with your purchase. If there’s a fault I’ll happily send out any replacement pieces you might need. Or if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed about the idea of starting, don’t stress, just grab the scrap piece of scrap fabric in your kit and just start to play. You can always email or DM me for any advice too. However, we don’t offer change of mind returns, each kit has been hand cut and overlocked by me with love, so to minimise waste, please shop with the intention to make.

How long does it take to get my order?

Each garment takes about 3 – 5 business days to make, I mean it’s just me and my endless cups of tea over here. You’ll be sent a tracking number once it’s posted so you’ll have someone new to stalk online.

A little more about Simply Mayd

So what actually is Simply Mayd?

Simply Mayd is a slow fashion brand for people who want to know exactly who made their clothes. With ready-to-sew kits perfect for beginners, that in my humble opinion make the perfect weekend project. It’s anti-fast fashion at its slowest. You can read all about Simply Mayd and genius behind it (me!) here.

Where do the fabrics come from?

The exclusive print range of fabrics are digitally printed in Sydney by an Ethical Clothing Australia approved manufacturer, meaning their entire supply chain is completely up to their strict standards. Any other fabrics you find on Simply Mayd are sourced from Australian or New Zealand suppliers who use either deadstock, or produce fabric under a strict code of conduct with their trusted manufacturers.

Do I need sewing experience to make your pieces?

Not at all! Most of the garments are designed for beginners, however, there will be a difficulty rating on each garment so you can make the right judgement. I've tried to keep any of the more difficult sewing techniques to an absolute minimum, which is why you won't find any zips! If you're not sure about a particular kit just send me an email.

Do I need a sewing machine?

Yes, you will need a sewing machine for all the kits unless you want a very slow fashion item.

What comes in a kit?

Everything you need minus the sewing machine. All the fabric comes pre-cut and any exposed seams will be overlocked so that your new piece can last un-frayed. You'll also find matching thread, and anything else specific to that kit.

What do I need for the sewing kits?

Like I've said you'll need a sewing machine, plus some scissors, a quick un-pick (that hopefully goes unused), pins, and a measuring tape.

How do I know what to do when I receive my kit?

You’re going to want to head straight to the video tutorial, which will be linked in your confirmation email, so keep an eye out.

I made a mistake with my kit and now I’m a hot sweaty mess and don’t know how to fix it.

First off - breathe. I’ve been there many times, so just grab your trusty quick unpick, put on your fav show to binge and settle in. Sadly, using the quick unpick is anything but speedy. Still not sure, take some photos and post them in the Facebook group and either I’ll help you out, or one of our other incredible members will jump in and save the day.

How do I care for my Simply Mayd piece?

It might have been cut and overlocked in the tropics of Broome, but a gentle cold wash is best for all Simply Mayd pieces. You can read all the tips for making sure your new favourite item of clothing lasts here.
